The Pink Hello Kitty Party

Well, I think we managed to pull it off. Peanut said she had a blast and I think all her friends had fun so I am going to call it win on the Pink Hello Kitty 5th Birthday Party.

As you guessed, it was a Hello Kitty theme with LOTS of pink, some red, and a little turquoise blue. I started working on it about a month ago and I have to say that for only working on it some evenings and a little on the weekends, it turned out  pretty good. And it also didn't cost us an arm an a leg.

(prepare for a photo dump)

When everyone first showed up, we had a little fun playing "carnival" type games, coloring and temporary tattoos (which were  HUGE hit).

We had some bowling:

After everyone got a tattoo and we played some games, it was time for treats! Instead of making a cake (which I did for her actual birthday) I made these tasty cake batter rice crispy treats that I found on Pinterest. I bough a couple boxes for the decorating icing and found some super cute Valentines sprinkles in the dollar bins at Target and put those on the table and let the kids go at it. They were all so very serious about their decorating, but they had a lot of fun.

Then we had eight over-sugared 5 year olds, so we actually went outside and played on the tree house, swings and ran around to burn off a little energy.

Once everyone had a little fresh air, we came in and Peanut opened her presents. She got some really nice board games and other gifts from her friends including a Hello Kitty purse, backpack, sunglasses, lip gloss, shirt and headbands.

I made up a bunch of goodies to snack on during the party and actually bagged up a little of each treat for everyone to take home in a gift bag along with a Hello Kitty color book, markers and extra tattoos.

Treats included: cake batter rice crispy treats, oreo cookie pops, pink chocolate popcorn, marshmallow pops, wrapped mini candy bars, red/pink/white M&M's, and cute labeled water and Kool-Aid.

You can see the rest of the decorations and more (yes, more) photos on flickr.

Happy Birthday, Peanut! I hope #5 will be one to remember!
